Ingredients
2 cups
1/4 cup
4 tsp
1/2 tsp
1/2 tsp

1 cup
1/4 cup
all purpose flour
sugar
baking powder
baking soda
salt
shortening or lard
buttermilk
dried currants
Preparation
1. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together.
2. Cut in shortening until fine.
3. Add milk and currants and mix lightly.
4. Knead for 10 seconds on lightly floured surface.
5. Roll out to 3/4 inch thickness.
6. Cut out with round 2 inch cookie cutter.
7. Place close together on a cookie sheet.
8. Bake in 425 oven for 1- - 12 minutes
Tea biscuits can also be made without currants.
